Bio & Research Focus

Dr. Cathy Bodine is a Professor, Department of Bioengineering, College of Engineering, Design and Computing, with secondary appointments in the Departments of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Orthopedics and Pediatrics, CU School of Medicine, Anschutz Medical Campus and Executive Director, Coleman Institute for Cognitive Disabilities. She holds the Colorado Construction Industry Endowed Professorship and the Coleman-Turner Endowed Chair in Cognitive Disability. She directs the Center for Innovative Design and Engineering (CIDE) with a focus on assistive, medical, and accessible mainstream technologies, interdisciplinary research and translational applications and design innovations. She is Director, Innovation Ecosystem, Colorado Clinical Translational Sciences Institute, University of Colorado, Anschutz Medical Campus and is developing transdisciplinary research and educational programs in the Department of Bioengineering focused on innovative technology, disability and aging. She is a Fellow of the Rehabilitation Engineering Society of North America (RESNA) and the American Institute for Medical and Biological Engineering (AIMBE).

Dr. Bodine holds a PhD in Educational Leadership and Innovation with an emphasis on Technology Innovations from the University of Colorado. Prior to joining CU, she worked in the disability technology industry. She is focused on growing industry and academic collaborations to improve the lived experience and independence of people living with or aging into disability through innovative technology solutions.
